Wanna Get

Released in 2004, Wanna Get is a pivotal early EP in the Parov Stelar catalog, showcasing the Austrian producer's foundational interest in blending vintage jazz aesthetics with contemporary electronic structures. Unlike his later, more bombastic 'electro swing' hits, this release is firmly rooted in the nu jazz and downtempo movements of the early 2000s. The title track is presented in three distinct forms, allowing for an exploration of the composition's versatility. The original mix focuses on atmosphere, utilizing heavy vinyl crackle and a haunting trumpet motif that suggests a deep reverence for the Blue Note era. The remixes by Dublex Inc. and Inverse Cinematics push the track toward the dancefloor, introducing elements of deep house and jazz-dance that were prevalent in the European club scene at the time. This EP serves as a blueprint for the sample-heavy, brass-led sound that would eventually make Stelar a global phenomenon, but here it remains intimate, dusty, and remarkably focused on texture over tempo.
