ACCEPT

Accept is a foundational pillar of the German heavy metal scene, emerging from Solingen in the late 1970s to redefine the boundaries of hard rock and metal. Led by the neoclassical guitar sensibilities of Wolf Hoffmann, the band moved away from the blues-based roots of their contemporaries toward a more rigid, precise, and aggressive 'Teutonic' sound.

Their early 1980s output, particularly 'Restless and Wild', is widely credited with pioneering the double-bass drumming and rapid-fire riffing that would become speed and thrash metal. The band's cultural peak arrived with 1983's 'Balls to the Wall', an album that combined social commentary with massive, hook-heavy anthems. Despite multiple hiatuses and high-profile lineup changes - most notably the transition from original vocalist Udo Dirkschneider to Mark Tornillo in 2009 - the band has maintained a remarkably consistent sonic identity. They remain a critical bridge between the NWOBHM movement and the later explosion of European power metal.
