Anew Revolution (ANR) emerged as a supergroup of sorts within the American alternative metal scene, featuring former members of Unloco and Slaves on Dope. Formed in Austin, Texas, the band's sound is a refined distillation of the nu-metal and hard rock movements of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Their sonic identity is built on the foundation of Joey Duenas's melodic yet aggressive vocals and a rhythm section that prioritizes 'the groove' over technical flash. Musically, they occupy a space between the radio-ready hooks of 12 Stones and the rhythmic aggression of Nonpoint. Their career arc saw them peak during the late 2000s with the release of 'Rise' and 'iMerica,' both produced by heavy-hitters like Mudrock and Ben Schigel. Despite a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2012 that showcased a loyal cult following, the band has remained largely quiet in the recording studio since, leaving behind a legacy of high-energy, groove-centric metal that remains a favorite for gym playlists and rock radio enthusiasts.
