Aggressive turn-of-the-millennium rock with heavy riffs and melodic grit. High-energy anthems for the gym or a high-speed night drive.
Boiler Room emerged from the New York hard rock scene in 1996, eventually finding their footing within the nu metal and alternative metal explosion of the late 90s. Their sound identity is built on the foundation of heavy, syncopated guitar riffs provided by Rob Caggiano (who later gained fame in Anthrax and Volbeat) and the melodic yet aggressive vocals of Chris Lino.
Unlike many of their peers who leaned heavily into rap-rock or industrial elements, Boiler Room maintained a more traditional hard rock structure, focusing on the 'Return of the Rock' aesthetic championed by MTV at the time. Their career was marked by significant delays; despite forming in 1996 and touring with Orgy in 1999, their major-label debut 'Can't Breathe' didn't arrive until late 2000. This timing placed them at the tail end of the nu metal peak, leading to their dissolution in 2001. However, the band retains a cult following among crate-diggers of the era. A 2021-2023 revival led by Lino has seen the band re-recording classic material with a new lineup, including Mike Orlando, signaling a modern reclamation of their legacy.
