Antenne

Antenne is the solo project of Danish musician Kim G. Hansen, a figure deeply embedded in the Copenhagen experimental scene.

Hansen's trajectory from the industrial duo Institute for the Criminally Insane and the noise-rock outfit Amstrong informs Antenne's 'dark trip-hop' aesthetic. While Amstrong flirted with pop structures, Antenne represents a move toward minimalism and electroacoustic textures. The project is most noted for its collaboration with vocalist Marie-Louise Munck, whose breathy, detached delivery became a signature element of the first three numbered albums. Critically, Antenne is viewed as a bridge between the 90s trip-hop explosion and the more abstract downtempo movements of the 2000s. The sound identity is characterized by 'dusty' production, heavy use of silence, and a focus on the physical properties of sound (glitch, hiss, and hum). Hansen's work with Orbit Service further highlights his penchant for psych-influenced, atmospheric collaborations. Antenne remains a cult favorite for crate-diggers seeking a more somber, experimental alternative to mainstream downtempo.
