Eche! emerged from the Christchurch, New Zealand scene in 2007, quickly becoming a flagship act for the country's brief but intense dance-punk explosion. Their sound is characterized by a high-BPM fusion of distorted synthesizers, driving live percussion, and dual-vocal shouting matches. Musically, they sit at the intersection of the 'Dunedin Sound' legacy and the global blog-house/electro-clash movement of the late 2000s. Their career arc was brief but impactful, marked by high-energy live performances that earned them international slots at festivals like SXSW and CMJ. Critically, they were often compared to acts like The Rapture or Liars, but with a distinctively scrappy, Southern Hemisphere DIY aesthetic.
