Blurt

Founded in 1979 by poet and puppeteer Ted Milton, Blurt emerged as one of the most idiosyncratic entities in the UK post-punk landscape. While briefly associated with Factory Records, their sound was far more abrasive and primitive than the label's typical gloom, aligning more closely with the New York No Wave movement of James Chance or the frantic deconstruction of The Pop Group.

The band's sonic identity is defined by a minimalist trio format, usually consisting of saxophone, guitar, and drums, which creates a 'skronk-funk' aesthetic characterized by repetitive, interlocking riffs and Milton's distinctive, shouting vocal delivery.
