Bridge

Bridge was a pivotal ensemble in the Japanese Shibuya-kei movement of the early to mid-1990s, signed to Keigo Oyamada's influential Trattoria label. Led by vocalist Mami Otomo and featuring future solo star Hideki Kaji on bass, the group specialized in a highly stylized fusion of Western pop influences.

Their sound identity is defined by a 'cut-and-paste' aesthetic that draws heavily from Burt Bacharach-style orchestrations, 1960s European cinema soundtracks, and British indie-pop. Critically, they are viewed as a more organic counterpart to the electronic-heavy acts of the era, focusing on live instrumentation like accordion and organ to achieve a 'chamber pop' feel.
