Bristol is a conceptual project led by Marc Collin, the visionary producer behind Nouvelle Vague. While Nouvelle Vague famously reimagined post-punk and new wave through a bossa nova lens, Bristol applies a similar transformative logic to the 1990s trip-hop movement.

The project's core identity lies in its 'what if' premise: imagining iconic tracks by Massive Attack, Tricky, and Portishead as if they were composed for 1960s film noir soundtracks. This results in a sound that bridges the gap between the 'Bristol Sound' and the cinematic traditions of composers like Ennio Morricone or François de Roubaix. The arrangements swap synthesizers for chamber strings and upright bass, while maintaining the slow, heavy tempos and rhythmic focus of the original genre.
