Rekevin

Rekevin is a Moscow-based ensemble that emerged in the late 2000s as a leading voice in the Russian downtempo and trip-hop scene. Formed around the vocal talents of Ksenia Istenko and the production vision of Timofey Korshunov, the group distinguishes itself through a rigorous adherence to analog recording techniques and live performance.

Their sound identity is heavily informed by the 'Bristol Sound' (Massive Attack, Portishead) but is augmented by neo-jazz sensibilities and the use of vintage hardware like the Ritm-2 and Aelita synths. Their career arc saw them move from the independent success of 'A Peacock' (2008) to more experimental territory on 'Nulukatuk' (2009) and 'Embarrassed' (2011). Critically, they are praised for achieving 'European' production standards while maintaining a distinctively Slavic sense of melodic melancholy.
