Clandestine Blaze is the primary musical vehicle for Mikko Aspa, a central figure in the global black metal and power electronics underground. Founded in 1998 in Lahti, Finland, the project is a cornerstone of the Northern Heritage label aesthetic.

Sound-wise, it is characterized by a 'raw' production style that emphasizes mid-range frequencies, tape saturation, and a rejection of modern digital polish. While early works were heavily influenced by the Norwegian second wave, specifically Darkthrone and Burzum, Clandestine Blaze evolved into a pillar of the 'Orthodox Black Metal' movement, focusing on serious theological and philosophical explorations of evil and nihilism. Aspa's involvement in Deathspell Omega and various power electronics projects like Grunt informs the music's textural grit and uncompromising ideological stance.
