Cyberaktif

Cyberaktif is a seminal industrial supergroup that serves as the definitive 'what if' scenario for the Vancouver electronic scene. Formed in 1990, it reunited Bill Leeb (Front Line Assembly) with his former Skinny Puppy bandmates cEvin Key and Dwayne Goettel.

This collaboration bridged the gap between the more structured, beat-driven EBM of Leeb's later work and the abstract, horror-inflected sound design of Skinny Puppy. Their debut, Tenebrae Vision, released on the legendary Wax Trax! label, remains a cornerstone of the electro-industrial genre, featuring guest contributions from Blixa Bargeld. After a decades-long hiatus following Goettel's death, the project was revived in 2024 with Rhys Fulber joining Key and Leeb. The group's sound identity is defined by complex sampling, distorted vocals, and a relentless mechanical drive. Critically, they are viewed as the architects of the 'Vancouver Sound,' influencing generations of dark electronic artists by proving that industrial music could be both intellectually dense and rhythmically punishing.
