Dimension Zero

Dimension Zero is a Swedish melodic death metal supergroup formed in 1995, primarily as a side project for Jesper Strömblad and Glenn Ljungström of In Flames. The band serves as a creative outlet for the faster, more aggressive tendencies of the Gothenburg sound that were increasingly sidelined as In Flames moved toward alternative and modern metal territories.

Featuring Joakim Göthberg (ex-Marduk) on vocals and Hans Nilsson on drums, the group’s sound is characterized by a high-velocity blend of melodic death metal and thrash, eschewing the atmospheric or electronic elements common in the genre's later evolution. Their discography, though sporadic due to the members' primary commitments, is highly regarded for its consistency and 'old-school' intensity. Critical consensus often positions them as a bridge between the melodic sensibilities of early In Flames and the uncompromising speed of bands like At the Gates or The Haunted. Despite long periods of inactivity, they remain a cult favorite among melodic death metal purists for their refusal to soften their sonic assault.
