Nightrage

Nightrage occupies a unique space in the melodic death metal (melodeath) pantheon, bridging the gap between the Greek extreme metal scene and the legendary Gothenburg sound. Founded by Marios Iliopoulos and Gus G, the band's early work is frequently cited as a high-water mark for the genre, particularly due to the involvement of At the Gates vocalist Tomas Lindberg.

Their sound is characterized by a high-tempo blend of thrash metal foundations, Swedish death metal aesthetics, and neoclassical guitar flourishes. Despite numerous lineup changes, Iliopoulos has remained the creative anchor, maintaining a consistent focus on dual-guitar harmonies and aggressive, existential lyricism. Critically, the band is respected for upholding the traditional 'Gothenburg' style even as the genre's originators drifted toward alternative or electronic influences.
