DJ Hidden (Noel Wessels) is a cornerstone of the Dutch darkstep and crossbreed scenes, distinguished by his dual mastery of technical sound design and atmospheric composition. Emerging in the mid-1990s and gaining significant traction in the 2000s, his work bridges the gap between the aggressive energy of industrial hardcore and the intellectual complexity of IDM.

As one half of The Outside Agency, he helped pioneer the 'crossbreed' subgenre, which fuses 175 BPM drum and bass structures with the distorted kick drums of hardcore. His solo work is notably more cinematic and 'noir' in tone, often featuring high-fidelity production that avoids the muddy textures common in dark electronic music. Wessels is also a professional sound designer for the gaming industry, a background that informs his meticulous approach to foley-like textures and spatial depth. Critically, he is regarded as a 'producer's producer,' frequently cited for his superior mixing and mastering skills.
