DJ Seduction, born John Kalkan, is a foundational figure in the UK breakbeat hardcore and happy hardcore scenes. Emerging in 1989 through the pirate radio circuit (Sunrise FM) and legendary London venues like The Dungeons, he became a bridge between the gritty underground and the commercial charts.

His 1991 hit 'Hardcore Heaven' on ffrr Records remains a definitive anthem of the era, showcasing his signature blend of frantic breakbeats and euphoric house elements. Beyond his production, Kalkan was a pivotal industry architect, founding Impact Records, which became one of the most influential labels in the hardcore genre. He was also instrumental in the formation of massive event brands like Hardcore Heaven and United Dance, which scaled the rave experience for thousands. His sound identity is defined by the 'Amen' break, heavy sub-bass, and the 'toy-town' melodic sensibility that would eventually evolve into the 170BPM+ happy hardcore of the mid-90s.
