Doris Days

Doris Days is a Swedish electronic collective, formed in Linkoping in 1989, that became a cult fixture of the 1990s downtempo and trip-hop scenes. Originally focused on creating 'romantic interpretations' of 1950s American cinema, the group's sound evolved into a sophisticated blend of jazz-inflected samples and breakbeats.

Their career is marked by a transition from the escapist, softly-woven textures of their early cassette work to the more abrasive and politically charged themes found on 'Live in Poland' and their Dorado Records debut. They gained international recognition when their 10-inch singles were championed by influential London DJs like Gilles Peterson, bridging the gap between Scandinavian experimentalism and the UK acid jazz/trip-hop explosion.
