Elefante

Elefante was a pivotal force in the Uruguayan alternative scene of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Formed in Montevideo, they represented a departure from the traditional 'Rock Nacional' sound, instead embracing a globalized aesthetic of industrial rock, nu-metal, and trip-hop.

The band's lineup was notable for its integration of a female vocalist, Stella Maris, whose range allowed the band to pivot between ethereal melodies and aggressive intensity. Their sound identity is defined by the interplay between 'Bestia's' heavy guitar work and 'Maneco's' use of samplers and electronic textures, creating a dense, layered production style.
