Emigrate

Emigrate is the primary creative outlet for Richard Kruspe, lead guitarist of Rammstein, established in 2005 during a period of hiatus for his main band. While Rammstein is defined by its collective German identity and theatrical provocation, Emigrate serves as a vehicle for Kruspe's personal songwriting and his affinity for the English language and American alternative metal.

The project began in New York City, which heavily influenced the 'urban industrial' atmosphere of the early records. Musically, Emigrate is characterized by 'Kruspe-style' riffs: down-tuned, staccato, and rhythmically precise, often doubled with synthesizers to create a massive, monolithic sound. Despite the involvement of high-profile collaborators like Till Lindemann, Peaches, and Cardinal Copia, the project remains a studio-only endeavor, allowing for meticulous production that favors digital clarity and compressed power. Critically, the band is viewed as a successful bridge between the Neue Deutsche Härte scene and international hard rock, maintaining a dedicated following among industrial metal enthusiasts who appreciate high-fidelity recording and structured, hook-driven songwriting.
