Funeral Mist

Funeral Mist is the primary creative vehicle for Daniel Rostén, known as Arioch, who also fronts the legendary Swedish band Marduk. Formed in 1993, the project evolved from a traditional black metal outfit into a pioneering force of the 'Orthodox' movement in the early 2000s.

This sub-movement shifted black metal's focus from simple anti-Christian tropes toward a more sophisticated, theological exploration of the adversarial. The sound identity is defined by extreme density, high-velocity percussion, and a unique 'cut-and-paste' production style where sacred music samples are violently juxtaposed with distorted riffs.
