Future Rock

Propulsive house beats played with the raw intensity of a power trio. High-energy livetronica that bridges the gap between the club and the rock club.

Intro

Future Rock sounds like the exact moment a rock band decides to hijack a warehouse rave. It is built on a foundation of relentless, driving percussion and thick, funky basslines that feel more human than a programmed loop but just as precise. The synthesizers provide the atmosphere, ranging from shimmering melodic hooks to gritty, distorted textures that cut through the mix with urgency.

What sets them apart is the 'livetronica' approach: the tension and release of a jam band applied to the structures of house and electro. Instead of static tracks, you hear the interplay between the musicians, particularly the Larry Graham-influenced bass slapping that adds a physical, percussive weight to the electronic elements. It is music that demands movement, favoring momentum over abstraction.

Start with 'Gears' or 'Nights' to hear their studio polish, but seek out their live recordings to truly understand their appeal. They are at their best when they have a room to energize, stretching out grooves until the transition between rock and dance music completely disappears.

Future Rock (or shortened as FR) is an electronic rock trio hailing from Chicago, Illinois. The band consists of Felix Moreno playing the bass guitar and the synthesizer, Mickey Kellerman plays the keyboards, and Darren Heitz plays the drums. Future Rock mixes standard live rock instrumentation with electronics. Their style of music is classified as electronica, but fuses elements of progressive house and dance-rock. Their music is often intense and quirky, yet very danceable. Future Rock has released five albums and toured the US nationally with a heavy presence in the music festival circuit.
