Groza

Groza, hailing from Mühldorf am Inn, Germany, emerged in 2016 as a project deeply indebted to the 'Mgła' school of black metal, characterized by hooded anonymity, melodic sensibilities, and high-quality production. Their debut, 'Unified in Void' (2018), established them as a formidable force in the German scene, though they initially faced comparisons to their Polish influences.

Over subsequent releases like 'The Redemptive End' (2021) and 'Nadir' (2024), the band evolved a more distinct identity, incorporating elements of post-metal and more varied dynamic structures. S. in 2023 added a layer of genuine mourning and gravity to their recent work. Critically, they are viewed as leaders of the 'modern' black metal movement, which prioritizes sonic clarity and emotional resonance over the traditional raw, lo-fi aesthetics of the genre's second wave. Their sound is defined by dual-guitar harmonies, relentless blast beats, and a vocal delivery that emphasizes existential despair and defiance.
