Agrypnie

Agrypnie is a German extreme metal project founded in 2004 by Torsten, originally as a solo outlet during his tenure with the influential avant-garde black metal band Nocte Obducta. Following the dissolution of his primary group, Agrypnie evolved into a full-band entity, becoming a standard-bearer for the 'modern' German black metal scene.

Their sound is distinguished by its departure from pagan or occult themes, opting instead for clinical, urban-focused explorations of mental health and isolation. Musically, they bridge the gap between the raw intensity of the second wave and the expansive, post-metal textures of the 21st century. Critical consensus highlights their ability to maintain a 'cold' atmosphere while utilizing high-fidelity production and complex, almost progressive arrangements.
