Gutalax

Gutalax is a cornerstone of the Czech 'Gore 'n' Roll' scene, a specific micro-genre that blends the sonic extremity of goregrind with the rhythmic accessibility of rock and roll and punk. Formed in 2009, they pivoted away from the self-serious horror tropes of early 90s grindcore in favor of scatological humor and high-energy performance art.

Their sound is characterized by heavily processed, pitch-shifted vocals (often referred to as 'toilet vocals') and a prominent use of 'polka' or 'disco' beats within a metal context. This juxtaposition has made them a staple of major European extreme metal festivals like Obscene Extreme. Critically, they are viewed as leaders of the 'porngrind' and 'goregrind' sub-movements that prioritize shock-humor and danceable grooves over traditional song structures. Their influence is seen in the rise of 'meme-grind' and the increasing theatricality of the underground extreme scene.
