Hanin Elias is a foundational figure in the digital hardcore movement, a subgenre that emerged in early 1990s Berlin as a political and sonic reaction against the commercialization of techno and the stagnation of punk. As a core member of Atari Teenage Riot (ATR), Elias provided a crucial feminine perspective and a vocal intensity that defined the group's anarchist aesthetic. Her career arc is defined by a transition from the collective activism of ATR to the establishment of her own label, Fatal Recordings, which she founded to champion female artists in the male-dominated industrial and electronic spheres.
