Hellsing

Hellsing is an Indonesian black metal project formed in 2011 in Manado, North Sulawesi. Emerging from a vibrant underground scene, the band exemplifies the 'raw' aesthetic, prioritizing emotional intensity and atmosphere over technical precision or high-fidelity recording.

Their sound is characterized by thin, trebly guitar tones, primitive blast beats, and heavily reverberated shrieks. While often confused with the Japanese anime soundtrack of the same name or a Mexican melodic death metal band, the Indonesian Hellsing occupies a specific niche in the global black metal underground. Their work, particularly around 2013-2014, aligns with the 'second wave' revivalism but adds a layer of Southeast Asian grit. Critically, they are viewed as a cult act, appreciated by collectors of limited-run cassettes and fans of the 'war metal' or 'raw black metal' sub-genres.
