Illdisposed is a cornerstone of the Danish death metal scene, formed in 1991 in Aarhus. While they emerged during the initial explosion of Nordic extreme metal, they quickly pivoted away from the standard Swedish or Norwegian templates to develop a signature 'groove-death' sound.

Their identity is anchored by Bo Summer's unique vocal technique, often described as 'subwoofer' vocals due to their extreme low-frequency resonance. Throughout the 2000s, particularly with the release of '1-800 Vindication', the band embraced a more polished, hi-fi production style that incorporated subtle electronic textures and highly melodic guitar leads without sacrificing their inherent brutality.
