Ingested, often dubbed the 'Kings of Slam,' emerged from Manchester in 2006 as a pivotal force in the UK extreme metal scene. Their sound identity is defined by a fusion of Brutal Death Metal's technicality and the rhythmic 'slam' breakdowns popularized by the New York scene, later incorporating the production sheen and structural elements of deathcore.

Over a career spanning seven studio albums, they have evolved from the gore-focused debut 'Surpassing the Boundaries of Human Suffering' (2009) toward more atmospheric and existential themes seen in their Metal Blade era. They are a bridge artist, connecting the old-school death metal purists with the modern deathcore audience. Critically, they are praised for their consistency and for elevating the 'slam' subgenre beyond its repetitive tropes through superior songwriting and high-tier musicianship, particularly the drumming of Lyn Jeffs.
