Innocens

Innocens is a Czech gothic metal ensemble formed in 2007 in Pardubice. The project was conceived by bassist and composer Jaroush, who sought to blend heavy instrumentation with the classical vocal training of lead singer Cath.

While initially intended as a peaceful acoustic project, the band's sound rapidly evolved into a more aggressive, symphonic style characterized by high production values and a blend of traditional metal elements with modern electronic textures. Their debut full-length, 'Free /us/', was notably distributed via a major Czech music magazine, securing them a significant domestic audience early on. Musically, they occupy a space between the operatic grandeur of Nightwish and the darker, more industrial-tinged gothic rock of the early 2000s. Critical consensus highlights their ability to integrate violin and synthesizers without sacrificing the 'crunch' of their guitar-driven foundations. They remain a key representative of the Czech Republic's contribution to the European female-fronted metal scene.
