Jam City

High-definition club music stripped to its skeletal, metallic core. Glossy, rhythmic, and deeply atmospheric sounds for late nights in the city.

Intro

Jam City creates music that feels like it was rendered in a high-end 3D engine. It is incredibly sharp, clean, and tactile, often focusing on the physical impact of sound. Imagine the sound of glass breaking or metal striking metal, but transformed into a rhythmic, danceable language. It is music that occupies the space between a futuristic nightclub and a lonely bedroom, blending the coldness of technology with a very human sense of yearning.

What sets Jack Latham apart is his ability to reinvent himself. He moved from the skeletal, architectural club tracks of his early work to a more lush, guitar-driven, and politically charged sound, before circling back to a polished, high-gloss R&B hybrid. His production is characterized by 'hyper-real' textures where every snare hit and synth swell feels like it has a physical weight and surface texture.

For those new to his world, Classical Curves is the essential starting point. It is a landmark album that defined the 'deconstructed club' aesthetic. From there, move to EFM for a more contemporary, vocal-focused take on his signature sound, or Dream a Garden if you want to hear his more experimental, shoegaze-adjacent side.

Jack Latham is a British electronic music producer and DJ who performs under the alias Jam City. He has been active since 2010 and records on the label Night Slugs. He has also produced for artists such as Kelela, Troye Sivan, Gaika, and Olivia Rodrigo.
