Khors

Khors is a cornerstone of the Kharkiv black metal scene, formed in 2004 by Khorus following his departure from the legendary Astrofaes. While they are frequently grouped with contemporaries like Drudkh and Nokturnal Mortum, Khors distinguishes themselves through a more 'heathen dark metal' approach that incorporates significant progressive and atmospheric elements.

Their sound identity is defined by mid-tempo pacing, prominent bass lines, and a lush use of synthesizers that creates a 'cold' but clean sonic profile. Over a career spanning two decades and eight full-length albums, they have evolved from the relatively straightforward pagan black metal of 'The Flame of Eternity's Decline' toward more complex, multi-layered compositions seen in recent works like 'Letters to the Future Self'. They are highly respected in the European festival circuit for their professional live delivery and have successfully maintained a consistent aesthetic of nature-worship and historical mysticism. Critical consensus views them as one of the most accessible yet deeply atmospheric exports of the Ukrainian underground.
