Kotipelto

Kotipelto is the solo vehicle for Timo Kotipelto, the legendary frontman of Stratovarius. Formed in 2002 during a period of internal friction within his primary band, the project allowed Kotipelto to explore his own songwriting vision outside the shadow of guitarist Timo Tolkki.

The project is a cornerstone of the European power metal scene, specifically the 'Helsinki school' which prioritizes high-fidelity production, neoclassical keyboard influences, and clean, operatic vocals. His debut, 'Waiting for the Dawn,' was a conceptual success focusing on Egyptian mythology, while subsequent releases moved toward more contemporary, emotional themes. The project is notable for its 'supergroup' nature, frequently featuring members of Children of Bodom, Symphony X, and Helloween.
