Bright, intricate progressive metal with soaring vocals and shimmering synths. High-energy technicality that feels uplifting and expansive.
Lost in Thought delivers a brand of progressive metal that prioritizes melody and light over the typical grit of the genre. Their sound is characterized by a pristine, high-fidelity production style where every intricate guitar lick and keyboard flourish is audible. It feels expansive and cinematic, often evoking the feeling of wide-open spaces or the clarity of a cold morning.
What sets them apart is the interplay between David Grey's technical guitar work and Greg Baker's symphonic keyboard textures. Unlike many of their peers who lean into darkness, this band leans into a triumphant, almost spiritual energy. Nate Loosemore's vocals provide a soaring anchor, staying firmly in a clean, powerful tenor range that avoids the harshness of modern metalcore.
Start with their debut, Opus Arise, to hear the foundation of their sound, then move to Renascence to experience their more mature, refined songwriting. It is the perfect choice for listeners who want the complexity of Dream Theater but with a more modern, power-metal-adjacent brightness.
Lost in Thought is a five-piece progressive metal band from Wales (UK). The band formed in Swansea in late 2007. To date the band have recorded their debut album 'Opus Arise' which has been released through Inner Wound Records. The band announced in April 2013 that their 2nd album has been abandoned and Lost In Thought had come to an end announcing that the band "was pretty much torn into two halves." In January 2016 the band announced that they had reformed and that a second album was in the works; this was released in 2018, under the title Renascence
