Maserati is a pivotal American instrumental band formed in Athens, Georgia, in 2000. While initially associated with the early 2000s post-rock movement alongside peers like The Mercury Program, their sound underwent a radical evolution following the addition of drummer Jerry Fuchs in 2005.

This shift saw the band move away from standard 'quiet-loud' dynamics toward a propulsive, Krautrock-influenced aesthetic characterized by motorik rhythms and heavy use of analog synthesizers and modulated guitar delays. Their work on the Temporary Residence Limited label, particularly the 2007 album 'Inventions for the New Season', solidified their reputation for blending the precision of math-rock with the atmospheric sprawl of space-rock. The tragic death of Fuchs in 2009 marked a significant turning point, yet the band continued to honor his rhythmic legacy on subsequent releases like 'Pyramid of the Sun' and 'Enter the Mirror', increasingly incorporating synthwave and industrial textures.
