Mellow

Mellow is a French electronic pop collective formed in 1997, primarily consisting of Patrick Woodcock and Pierre-Alain Marinot. Emerging during the height of the 'French Touch' and downtempo movements, they carved out a niche by focusing on retro-futurist aesthetics and vintage instrumentation, most notably the Mellotron.

Their sound identity is a sophisticated blend of 1960s baroque pop, space-age bachelor pad music, and contemporary trip-hop. They gained significant international visibility through their association with the skate culture brand Emerica, specifically the soundtrack for 'This Is Skateboarding', and their collaboration with director Roman Coppola on the 'CQ' soundtrack. Their career is defined by a series of conceptually themed albums based on seasons, which showcased their ability to adapt their lush, analog-heavy production to different emotional palettes.
