Mint Julep

Mint Julep is the collaborative project of Keith Kenniff (best known for his ambient work as Helios and neo-classical as Goldmund) and his wife, Hollie Kenniff. Formed in 2007, the duo serves as a departure from Keith's more minimalist solo ventures, embracing a bolder, more structured pop format.

Their sound identity is defined by a hybrid of 80s synth-pop sensibilities, 90s shoegaze textures, and contemporary electronic production. Hollie's vocals are consistently treated with ethereal reverb, acting as a melodic glue for Keith's intricate instrumental arrangements. Critically, they are praised for their 'lustrous' and 'mellifluous' compositions that avoid the typical pitfalls of derivative dream pop through superior sound design. Their evolution has seen them move from the guitar-heavy 'Save Your Season' toward more synth-driven and even purely ambient explorations in later years. They occupy a unique space in the indie-electronic scene, bridging the gap between the textural focus of labels like 4AD and the rhythmic clarity of modern synth-wave.
