Nasty Savage is a foundational pillar of the Florida metal scene, specifically credited as a primary influence on the development of death metal. Formed in 1983 in Brandon, Florida, the band was led by the charismatic and physically imposing 'Nasty' Ronnie Galletti.

Their sound is characterized by a highly technical approach to thrash metal, utilizing unusual time signatures, diminished scales, and complex dual-guitar arrangements between David Austin and Ben Meyer. This technicality, paired with Ronnie's theatrical vocal style and infamous stage show - which often involved smashing television sets over his head - positioned them as an eccentric but vital force in the 1980s underground. While they never achieved the commercial heights of the 'Big Four,' their influence is cited by genre pioneers like Chuck Schuldiner of Death.
