Noto is the primary minimalist alias of German visual artist and musician Carsten Nicolai, a central figure in the glitch and microsound movements of the late 1990s and early 2000s. The Noto project is characterized by its extreme reductionism, often focusing on the physical properties of sound waves rather than traditional composition.
