Past Lives

Past Lives emerged from the 2007 dissolution of the highly influential post-hardcore outfit The Blood Brothers. Featuring three-fifths of that band's final lineup (Jordan Blilie, Morgan Henderson, and Mark Gajadhar), Past Lives represents a significant pivot toward art-rock and post-punk sophistication.

While their predecessor was defined by dual-vocal chaos and neon-drenched aggression, Past Lives focuses on intricate, interlocking guitar work and a more singular, atmospheric vocal approach. Their sound is deeply rooted in the Pacific Northwest's lineage of experimental punk, drawing lines between the angularity of Fugazi and the psychedelic textures of late-era Wire. Critically, they are viewed as a 'musician's band,' praised for their technical precision and the ability to maintain emotional urgency without relying on genre tropes. Their career arc, though intermittent, shows a steady progression toward denser, more layered production, moving from the raw energy of 'Strange Symmetry' to the expansive, synth-touched landscapes of 'Tapestry of Webs.'
