Pink Mountaintops is the primary creative outlet for Stephen McBean outside of his work with Black Mountain. Formed in Vancouver in 2003, the project serves as a more experimental, lo-fi, and psych-leaning counterpart to Black Mountain's heavy stoner-rock foundations.

They are heavily influenced by the Velvet Underground's drone, the Stooges' grit, and the melodic sensibilities of Spiritualized.
