The Walking Who

The Walking Who is a Sydney-based trio consisting of Rohin Brown, Jay Bird, and Paul Mclean, known for a highly textural and experimental approach to psychedelic rock. Emerging in the early 2010s, they quickly gained traction within the Australian indie scene, earning 'Band of the Month' honors from FBi Radio and supporting heavyweights like King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.

Their sound identity is characterized by a blend of neo-psychedelia, lo-fi aesthetics, and art-rock experimentation, often compared to the melodic yet hazy output of Deerhunter and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. A significant part of their mythology involves their nomadic recording process, utilizing makeshift backyard studios in Byron Bay and Sydney, which resulted in a sound that incorporates environmental noise and unconventional percussion. Critically, they are viewed as part of the 'new wave' of Australian psych, though they lean more toward the moody, atmospheric end of the spectrum than their more garage-oriented peers.
