Psysex is a foundational pillar of the Israeli psychedelic trance scene, formed in 1998 by Udi Sternberg (DJ Goblin) and Yoni Oshrat (later famous as Ace Ventura). Emerging from the 'Basement Studio' in Tel Aviv, they bridged the gap between the melodic sensibilities of 90s Goa and the aggressive, technical 'Full On' style of the early 2000s.
Their debut, 'Expressions of Rage', established a signature sound of high-tempo, triplet-driven basslines and dark, cinematic atmospheres. The project reached its zenith with 2001's 'Hardcore Blastoff', an album that remains a benchmark for the genre's production standards. Following Oshrat's departure in 2006, Sternberg has maintained the project's legacy, evolving the sound to include more modern, polished textures while retaining the core 'goblin' energy. Their influence is visible in the work of contemporaries like Infected Mushroom and Astrix, particularly in the use of industrial-influenced sound design and complex rhythmic structures.
