Psysex is a seminal project in the Israeli 'Full-On' psytrance movement, originally formed by Udi Sternberg (DJ Goblin) and Yoni Oshrat (later famous as Ace Ventura). Emerging from the Tel Aviv scene in the late 1990s, they bridged the gap between the melodic, psychedelic Goa style and a newer, more aggressive, and technically precise form of trance.
Their sound identity is defined by high-BPM rolling basslines, complex FM synthesis, and a penchant for sci-fi and horror-influenced sampling. The project's name itself was born from a technical error in the studio, a fitting origin for music that sounds like a malfunction in a high-tech laboratory. Following the departure of Oshrat in 2006, Sternberg continued the project, maintaining its reputation for high-energy, dancefloor-focused production. They are central figures in the Hom-Mega Records roster and have influenced a generation of producers with their 'Expressions of Rage' and 'Hardcore Blastoff' albums, which are considered cornerstones of the genre's transition into the digital era.
