Rosemary

Rosemary is a Danish-Iranian electronic duo formed in 2009, consisting of vocalist Sahar and producer Lasse. The project is a significant example of the 'Scandinavian-Middle Eastern' cross-pollination that emerged in the early 2010s indie electronic scene.

Sahar, who fled Iran for Denmark as a child, brings a vocal style rooted in Persian scales and melismatic techniques, which Lasse embeds within a production framework influenced by 80s darkwave, 90s trip-hop, and contemporary Nordic minimalism. Their debut EP, 'A Persian Tale' (2011), was released on the Perfectly Isolated label and received critical attention for its 'genuine Scandinavian pop meeting Iranian avant-garde' aesthetic.
