Rude 66 (Ruud Lekx) is a foundational figure in the 'Hague Sound', a specific strain of electronic music emerging from the Netherlands that prioritizes raw, lo-fi analog textures over polished club production. Beginning in the mid-80s within the noise and EBM scenes, Lekx became a central pillar of the Bunker Records collective.

His early work helped define a style often described as 'sewer acid', characterized by aggressive Roland TB-303 lines and a DIY, punk-adjacent aesthetic. By the late 90s, Lekx evolved his sound toward 'dark electrofunk', integrating heavy influences from horror soundtracks, darkwave, and early Detroit electro. This period, marked by collaborations with his wife Shaunna Lekx, introduced a more structured, song-oriented approach featuring deadpan, atmospheric vocals.
