Samavayo

Samavayo is a Berlin-based trio that has spent over two decades refining a distinctive brand of heavy rock. Formed in 2000, the band initially emerged from the German alternative scene but quickly pivoted toward a denser, stoner-influenced sound characterized by high-gain amplification and driving tempos.

The core lineup of Behrang Alavi (vocals/guitar) and the Voland brothers (Andreas on bass, Stephan on drums) has maintained a prolific output and a rigorous touring schedule of over 500 shows, cementing their reputation as a premier live act in the European underground. Their sound identity is built on the 'desert rock' template popularized by Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age, but it is distinguished by Alavi's lyrical focus on identity and social commentary, often sung in Farsi as well as English. This 'East meets West' aesthetic reached a creative peak on albums like 'Vatan' and 'Payan', which received critical acclaim for expanding the boundaries of the stoner rock genre. They occupy a unique cultural position as a bridge between the Western rock tradition and Middle Eastern melodic structures, making them a fixture in both the German rock scene and the global stoner metal community.
