STRFKR, originally Starfucker, began as a solo outlet for Joshua Hodges in Portland, Oregon, as a reaction against the perceived pretension of the music industry. The project evolved into a full band known for a highly consistent aesthetic of 'philosophical dance-pop.'

Their sound identity is built on a foundation of vintage synth textures, driving percussion, and Hodges' distinctive breathy vocal delivery.
