Sub Swara

Sub Swara is a Brooklyn-based electronic duo, currently consisting of Dhruva Ganesan and Dave Sharma, that emerged from a highly influential NYC club residency of the same name. Founded in the mid-2000s, the project was instrumental in catalyzing the American bass music scene alongside peers like Trouble & Bass and Dub War.

Their sound identity is defined by a 'global bass' aesthetic, merging the low-end theory of UK dubstep and grime with live percussion, specifically drawing on Indian classical influences and hip-hop breakbeats. Their debut LP, Coup d'Yah (2008), received critical acclaim for its sophisticated production and cross-cultural synthesis.
