Tessela, the alias of Ed Russell, is a pivotal figure in the post-dubstep landscape of British electronic music. Emerging in the early 2010s, he became a central architect of the 'UK Bass' sound, which bridged the gap between traditional techno, jungle, and garage.

His work is characterized by an obsession with the 'break', specifically the manipulation of classic samples like the 'Think' break, which he re-engineered with a modern, high-fidelity sheen that felt both archival and futuristic. His career reached a critical zenith with the release of 'Hackney Parrot' on his own Poly Kicking label, a track that became a ubiquitous club anthem and redefined the use of breakbeats in contemporary techno.
