The Scumfrog

Sleek, underground house with a dark, sophisticated edge. Deep grooves and hypnotic textures for late-night city exploration and subterranean dance floors.

Intro

The Scumfrog creates a sound that lives in the tension between high-gloss pop production and the grit of the underground dance floor. It is music that feels expensive yet dangerous, characterized by deep, driving basslines that seem to pulse from beneath the pavement. There is a specific sleekness to the percussion, a mechanical precision that never feels cold, instead providing a steady, hypnotic heartbeat for the night.

What truly sets Jesse Houk apart is his ability to deconstruct familiar voices and melodies, stripping them of their radio-friendly warmth and reassembling them into something more mysterious and nocturnal. Whether he is working with a global superstar or an original composition, the result is always a 'sub-surface' experience. It is the sound of a city that never sleeps, but also never quite reveals its secrets.

For those new to his catalog, starting with his early 2000s remixes or the album 'Simmer' provides the best window into his aesthetic. It is the perfect soundtrack for moments that require a bit of edge, a bit of mystery, and a lot of rhythm. It works just as well in a high-end lounge as it does in a dark, sweat-soaked basement.
